Personality & Traits

General Overview Haas Rayard is a Bajoran national.
Strengths & Weaknesses Haas Rayard has shown to be an excellent strategist, and shows command ability. He does tend to anger quickly, and may show that anger quickly, but also calms down shortly after expressing his emotions.
Ambitions Rayard's only known ambition was to rise above the semi-slave life he experienced as a boy. He has not true ambition for command, though it comes easily to him.
Hobbies & Interests Rayard has always been an engineer at heart. During his days as a "houseboy," he would always marvel at the Cardassian craft and equipment. Once Bajor was liberated, he found a niche as an engineer, always loving the different classes of starships, Starfleet had.

Personal History Born in Torana Village, in the Kendra province. His parents were lost in the Kendra Valley Massacre, and Rayard was captured and made to serve as a "house boy" for Dajoran Tyret, the administrative officer of the Otopa Prison Camp.

Tyret, at times, treated the boy with kindness. It was only the times when his superior was around, or subordinates were in earshot, that Tyret would berate the boy, and constantly remind him he was no better than the dirt beneath their boots.

Once Bajor was liberated, Rayard was left behind, and homeless. Still, he did his best, doing what was necessary to survive. Eventually, he befriended a Starfleet officer, whom recognized the young man's skills and sponsored him in his bid to join Starfleet. Rayard, initially, did not pass the entrance exams, but enlisted instead. It was during his time, as an enlisted engineer, that Rayard was able to learn more about the Federation, and its history, and worked hard to finally become a commissioned officer.
