Antimatter Processing (Deck 19)

Adjacent to the antimatter storage compartment but separated by a full reinforced bulkhead, the processing control room is where engineers oversee containment field generation and manage feed routing without standing in direct proximity to the pods themselves. A wide bank of specialized LCARS consoles wraps around three sides of the room, each displaying different facets of antimatter management: field generator output, feed line flow rates toward the warp core, containment redundancy status, and long-range structural monitoring for the pods visible through a thick, radiation-shielded viewport set into the dividing bulkhead.
Through the viewport, the storage compartment's faint violet containment glow is visible, softened and dimmed by the shielded glass to a safe ambient presence rather than the fuller intensity seen up close. The central console, larger than the others and positioned to give its operator a direct line of sight through the viewport, serves as the primary control station, requiring dual-key authorization for any change to feed rates or containment parameters, a physical keypad and a secondary biometric scanner both needing to register before any adjustment takes effect.
The room's walls are the same heavily reinforced composite found throughout the antimatter systems, and the floor is a standard non-slip composite kept clear of clutter given the room's exacting operational standards. Lighting is bright and clinical, chosen for maximum legibility of the dense console readouts rather than atmosphere, and the room carries only a faint recycled-air neutrality, the true operational activity happening behind the shielded bulkhead rather than in the control room itself. The ambient sound is the soft, layered hum of dozens of active monitoring systems, occasionally joined by a status chime as a routine check completes, the whole room maintaining a hushed, focused atmosphere befitting the responsibility carried by whoever sits at its central station.
