Flight Operations Control (Deck 10)

Set above and forward of the main flight deck, this control room looks down over Bay 1 through a long, sharply angled viewport that runs almost the full width of the room, giving controllers an unobstructed view of the entire hangar floor below. A raised platform along the viewport gives standing controllers an even better sightline, while a lower tier of seated consoles handles the detailed traffic and communications work. Each console is dedicated to a different aspect of flight operations - launch and recovery sequencing, tractor beam control, and fuel and ordnance coordination - their displays a mix of live camera feeds from around the bay and schematic overlays tracking every craft's position and status. A large shared display at the front of the room shows the master flight schedule, updated continuously as craft launch, land, or shift into maintenance status. A glassed-in side office belongs to the Flight Control Officer, positioned for a clear line of sight into the control room itself as well as down onto the bay, with its own smaller console mirroring the primary displays. The room's lighting is kept deliberately low to reduce glare against the viewport and displays, giving the whole space a slightly dim, focused atmosphere similar to an air traffic control tower. Voices here tend toward clipped, procedural radio traffic more than casual conversation, punctuated by status tones from the console displays and, on a clear day, the visible flare of an approach thruster far below through the viewport. The room stays notably quieter than the bay itself, insulated enough that the shuttlebay's mechanical hum barely intrudes.
